Where expert guidance and supportive peers come together to help you live a healthy life.

Research has shown that participating in a structured lifestyle change program can reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes by about 50%.
With the support of a trained lifestyle coach and a group of people working toward similar goals, you’ll learn practical strategies to make healthier choices and build habits that can last a lifetime.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
- 12 month program
- Meet once per week for the first 6 months, followed by once per month for the remaining 6 months.
- The program primarily meets in person at the YMCA, with the option to participate virtually when needed after the first eight sessions.
COST
- No YMCA membership required
- Private Pay
- $250 for the full 12-month program
- Insurance Coverage
- Medicare, Medicaid, and some private insurance plans may cover the cost of the program for eligible participants. Insurance coverage varies by plan. Contact the YMCA to learn more about eligibility and whether your insurance may cover the program.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

- Set and achieve realistic goals
- Manage stress
- Overcome barriers and challenges
- Stay motivated
- Build healthy habits that last
- You’ll work with a trained lifestyle coach and connect with others who are working toward similar goals in a welcoming and supportive group environment.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program provides practical tools, education, and support to help you make lasting lifestyle changes.
- Participants will:
- Meet with a trained lifestyle coach each week
- Learn practical strategies for healthy eating and physical activity
- Set and track personal goals
- Learn how to overcome common barriers to healthy lifestyle changes
- Build connections with others working toward similar goals
- Receive support and encouragement throughout the program
IS THE DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM RIGHT FOR YOU?
- The Diabetes Prevention Program is designed for adults who are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes, including adults who have been identified as having prediabetes.
- You may be a good fit if you:
- Have been told you have prediabetes
- Have been identified as being at increased risk for type 2 diabetes
- Want support making healthier lifestyle changes
- Are ready to work toward improving your nutrition and physical activity
- Want to make changes in a welcoming and supportive environment
- Eligibility is based on program requirements and may include a history of prediabetes, elevated blood glucose, or a qualifying diabetes risk assessment.
