In our ongoing Women’s History Month series, we are featuring local leaders who help others reach their full potential. Today, we’re highlighting Tara Gronhovd, the CEO and Founder of ALIGN Strategy.

Tara’s work is centered on helping leaders grow their self-awareness and align their values with their behaviors. Her impact is felt throughout the St. Cloud region through her coaching, events, and volunteerism.

Leading with Courage and Vulnerability

Tara’s leadership style is deeply influenced by the research of Brené Brown. She believes that true leadership isn’t about having all the answers or projecting constant certainty.

Instead, Tara embraces vulnerability as a strength. By being honest about uncertainty and having hard conversations, she creates environments where people feel safe to take risks, be authentic, and learn together.

Service in St. Cloud

What inspires Tara most about our community is the people. She loves living in a place where neighbors are willing to step up and make things better for everyone.

This commitment to service is why she founded ALIGN and the SHIFT leadership event. It’s also why she spends her time volunteering with the YMCA and United Way to ensure our region continues to thrive.

The SHIFT Leadership Event

One of Tara’s proudest professional moments was launching the SHIFT Leadership Event. What began as a simple idea to help leaders connect has grown into a meaningful community investment.

She is equally proud of the team she has built. For Tara, creating something impactful is rewarding, but doing it alongside people who share a commitment to growth and service makes it even better.

Recharging in the Kitchen

After a day spent coaching and strategizing, Tara heads to the kitchen to recharge. She views cooking as a creative and grounding outlet.

She loves the process of experimenting with flavors and turning simple ingredients into a meal. For her, it’s a relaxing way to nourish the people she cares about most.

Tara’s Advice

Tara offers a refreshing perspective for working women: stop chasing “balance.” She believes the idea that we can “do it all” is a myth that often leads to feeling like we’re falling short.

Instead, Tara encourages focusing on integration. By knowing your values and priorities for your current season of life, you can set healthy boundaries that allow your work and personal life to work together.
