The Outdoor Water Park is an aquatics destination led by the St. Cloud Area Family YMCA. Designed to serve children, families, and visitors throughout Central Minnesota, the project will expand access to outdoor recreation, support youth and family wellness, and create a space that strengthens community connection and regional vitality.

The Outdoor Water Park has been part of the YMCA’s vision since plans for the current building were first developed. The project represents the fulfillment of that vision and the YMCA’s commitment to creating opportunities for recreation, connection, and healthy living in our community.

The YMCA also brings extensive experience operating aquatic facilities, hiring and training lifeguards, and providing water safety programming. As one of the region’s leading providers of swim lessons and aquatic programs, the YMCA is well-positioned to safely operate and manage this community resource.

An Outdoor Water Park is one of the most frequently requested amenities by visitors and families who connect with the St. Cloud Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. In addition to creating opportunities for summer fun and connection, the project will attract visitors from throughout the region, bringing additional business to the local community and contributing to the long-term vitality of the St. Cloud area.

Funding for the Outdoor Water Park includes a combination of philanthropic support and community partnerships. To date, more than $12 million has been raised toward the project’s $15 million fundraising goal through the generosity of donors, businesses, and community supporters.

The Outdoor Water Park is for everyone in our community. Admission will be included in all YMCA memberships. Non-members can purchase day passes, similar to how admission works at amusement parks, family recreation venues, and other water parks. Additional details regarding pricing, admissions, and programming will be shared as planning progresses.

Yes. Accessibility and inclusive design are important priorities for the project. The goal is to create a welcoming environment that can be enjoyed by individuals and families of varying ages and abilities.

The goal is to begin construction in 2027. Project timelines are dependent on fundraising progress, partnerships, approvals, and overall project planning.
